Weddings in the Sun

Wedding Planner Abroad

A UK wedding planner for your wedding abroad

You plan with a UK-based team, in pounds and in your time zone. The day itself is run by a coordinator on the ground.

Looking for a wedding planner for a wedding abroad usually means choosing between two things: someone in the UK who cannot be at the venue, or someone at the venue you cannot easily talk to. Weddings in the Sun is built to remove that trade-off. We are a UK-based team, in Nottingham, planning destination weddings in Greece, Cyprus, Italy, Malta and Spain for couples across the UK and Ireland, with a coordinator in the country who deals with the venue, the local authority and the suppliers in person.

That means you can settle a date, a budget and a guest list with someone you can ring, then leave the details on the ground to someone who is physically there, speaks the language and is on site on the morning. It is the difference between a planner who sends emails and one who opens the door.

What a wedding planner abroad does for you

This is what sits behind a package, in the order couples usually need it:

Flights and transfers you book yourself (almost always cheaper than buying them through a planner), accommodation you pay to the hotel or villa directly, and local authority fees go to the municipality. Our cost page lists what sits inside a package and what does not, so there is no surprise at the second meeting.

Why a UK team and a coordinator on the ground

With a UK-based team you get

  • Someone to ring, in your time zone, in plain English
  • Prices and payments in pounds

With a coordinator in the country you get

  • Local knowledge of suppliers, transfers and what works in the heat

1

Tell us the date and the rough numbers

That is genuinely all we need to start. A free, no-obligation conversation by phone, email or video call, with real venues and a real price back within one working day.

2

Get a costed proposal

One document with the venue, the ceremony, the catering and the coordination priced for your numbers, with the things we do not control named separately. You accept it online.

3

Hold the date

You sign your contract electronically and pay a deposit to hold the venue and the date. After that, pay at your own pace as long as the balance is clear before the wedding.

4

We plan, you enjoy it

Your UK planner stays your point of contact through the details; your coordinator in the country deals with the venue and suppliers, and is there on the day.

Questions about planning a wedding abroad

Do I need a wedding planner for a wedding abroad?
You can organise a wedding abroad yourself, but it means managing a venue, a local authority and several suppliers in another country, often in another language, and without being there to check. A planner earns their place on exactly that: someone who deals with the venue, the ceremony arrangements and the suppliers, and who is on site on the day. If your guest list is more than a handful, or the date is fixed, most couples find it is the part they are glad not to have done alone.
What does a UK wedding planner for abroad weddings actually do?
You work with a UK-based team to choose the venue and date, agree a costed proposal and plan the details. In the country, a coordinator handles the venue, arranges the ceremony with the local authority, works with the caterer and suppliers, runs a rehearsal and a run-through, and is there on the day. Before and after, your guests get the information they need and a private website to reply on.
How much does a wedding planner for a wedding abroad cost?
Planning is part of our package prices rather than a separate retainer: 2 of our 29 packages include the planner, and each package page says what is included. Our packages run from £3,735 to £17,299. Flights, accommodation and local authority fees sit outside, and our cost page lists exactly what.
How far ahead should we start planning?
For peak dates, twelve to eighteen months ahead gives you the widest choice of venues. Many couples plan in less, and it can work, but the most popular venues and weekends go first. If your date is fixed, start with the date; if it is flexible, we will tell you honestly which months have the most choice.
Where do you plan weddings?
Greece, Cyprus, Italy, Malta and Spain. We would rather know a handful of places properly than list twenty we have never worked in, and we will tell you straight if what you want is outside what we do.
Can we plan it all from the UK, without visiting first?
Yes. Many couples do. We plan by phone, email and video call, you see the venue through photographs and video, and your coordinator is there in person. If you would like to see a venue first, ask us and we will tell you what is possible.
Do you work with couples from outside England?
Yes. We plan weddings abroad for couples across the UK and Ireland. Our flying-from pages show airports and flight times from towns and cities across both.
